Business of the Month Criteria & Nomination Form

To recommend a business or organization as business of the month, please submit a Business of the Month Nomination Form to the Whitley County Chamber of Commerce office. The recommendation will be presented to the Ambassador Committee.

May 2012 Business of the Month - Parkview Whitley Hospital

The Whitley County Chamber of Commerce and its Ambassadors recognized Parkview Whitley Hospital as the March Business of the Month. Parkview Whitley Hospital was chosen for its many contributions to the health and well-being of the Whitley County communities. They are active in sponsoring many events throughout the year including health fairs and running events such as the Snowflake 5K at this year’s Fire & Ice Festival.

On hand to celebrate the event were Carrie Hoffman (Parkview Foundations), Kristi Maloney (Parkview Oaks), Cari Wells (First Source Bank), Scott Gabriel (Parkview Whitley Hospital), Don Clemens (RABB Water Systems), June Keiser (J&J Insurance Solutions), Jennifer Romano (Talk of the Town), Jim Landrum (Star Bank), Tucker Thakkar (Super 8 Motel), Shawn Ellis (B.A.B.E. of Whitley County), and Jo Robertson (Midwest America FCU).

April 2012 Business of the Month - Northeastern REMC

Northeastern Rural Electric Membership Corporation,(NREMC) headquartered in Columbia City, Indiana, is a consumer-owned corporation that supplies electric power to members in portions of Allen, Huntington, Kosciusko, Noble, Wabash and Whitley counties in Northeastern Indiana. More than 27,000 households and businesses receive power from Northeastern REMC.

Northeastern REMC is wholly owned by the people it serves and is governed by a board of directors elected by members in each of nine voting districts. Approximately 70 employees work for Northeastern REMC to serve its residential, commercial and industrial accounts.

Northeastern REMC's Corporate Mission is “To meet our members' ongoing needs for economical and reliable electric service in ways that merit the trust and confidence of the public”.

 

2010 marked Northeastern REMC's 75th year, and it now provides electric services to nearly 28,000 members, on 2,148 miles of line, in six northeast Indiana counties. As was the case in its beginning in 1936, members can still expect their electric cooperative to do what ever is necessary to make electricity available where and when it is needed.
